Oscar...what a lovely name.

It's that time of year. Studios and their "indie" boutiques roll out their contenders for the most coveted award in the Biz. Some films are already floating around the scene, such as WALL-E for best animation, Gus van Sant's Milk, or previous Oscar-winner Ron Howard's Frost/Nixon. Even Beyoncé's name comes up for her role in Cadillac Records.

It's still too early to tell which films will survive the rumors to become the nominees. But that doesn't stop the folks at the LA Times from picking their early nomination picks.

Happy Filmmaking!
